These people don’t

These people don’t think of things as being impossible or that they can’t do something. These people are thinking of what they are going to do to get where they want to be.

Just think about this – if everyone thought things were impossible then we would probably still be sat in caves huddle round a fire. Instead we are sat comfortable in our homes with heating, lighting, TV’s, stereos, etc.

Did you know that scientists were baffled when they took a look at the humble bumblebee? Theoretically, it was impossible for the bumblebee to fly. Fortunately for the bumblebee no one told it that it couldn’t fly so, fly it does.

Self doubt and self limiting assumptions are the high walls surrounding us that limit our ability to achieve what we want. The people who succeed find ways to get over these walls but not in one big jump! Set your goals high but work towards them in achievable steps and you suddenly find your self achieving your dreams.

Intermarine headquarters returns to New Orleans

New Orleans CityBusiness, May 15, 2006 by New Orleans CityBusiness Staff

Intermarine, a provider of worldwide ocean transportation, will reopen its New Orleans headquarters June 5, company officials said.

The New Orleans-based company, founded here in 1990, temporarily relocated its headquarters and 70 employees to Houston following Hurricane Katrina.

It has always been our intent to return to New Orleans and we are very happy to do so. We were forced to wait until we could logistically manage the relocation with our personnel and waiting until the summer was the most appropriate time for us, said Greg Stangel, Intermarine’s vice president of marketing and systems.

On May 5, Intermarine’s U.S. flagged M/V Ocean Atlas was the company’s first ship to call on the Port of New Orleans since Hurricane Katrina struck Aug. 29

Most common are hops and

Most common are hops and barley and the fermentation time varies when compared to conventional wine making. I guess that only depends on the type of kit you are using.

Besides the fun factor, other reasons to home brew or home wine making would be price (Make bottles of wine for less than $0.25 cents), more control of taste, and of course the freshness. To get started, I recommend to take a walk to your local library and read books on wine making and home brewing. You can also join online forums or how about a stroll to your local home brewing store. Their just be local wine clubs that you can visit for free wine tasting! That’s a good way to get started if you ask me!

Everyone has their own unique reason as wine making and home brewing is just like any other hobby.

Watch your local

Watch your local calendar and announcements in the paper for when you can eat, drink and be merry.

*The zoo is for you

The time to visit the zoo is in the middle of the week in the middle of the day. If you and your date can ever steal away from your work at the same time, you will discover lion feeding time, animals being washed, pens being cleaned out, and caretakers willing to talk. This is a roaring good date.

*Be a game player

Have you played a board game lately? Perhaps it is time to rediscover Monopoly, Checkers, Chutes and Ladders, or Scrabble. Card games are always a good bet when you can find one that you both enjoy. An afternoon of soup and sandwiches, a good Board game, and the winner gets to plan the next date, can be a time of conversation and sharing and growing closer.

This way your body can

This way your body can use energy to fight your cold instead of protecting you from the cold.

Eat Lightly – Eat, but steer clear of foods that put a strain on your body’s metabolism. Eat fewer fatty foods, meat and milk products, and eat more fresh fruits and vegetables.

Chicken Soup – A silly folk remedy? No! Researchers at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach have found that hot chicken soup, either because of its aroma or its taste, “appears to possess an additional substance for increasing the flow of nasal mucus.” Researchers say that this mucus serves as a first line of defense in removing germs from your system, so eat up!

Liquids – Drink six to eight glasses of water, juice, tea, and other mostly clear liquids daily to keep the body hydrated and to flush out impurities.

NO Smoking! – Smoking aggravates the throat and interferes with the infection-fighting activity of the cilia, the microscopic “fingers” that sweep bacteria out of your lungs and throat. Even if you don’t quit for good, at least stop for the duration of your cold.

The same is true with

The same is true with your hair.

Can stress play a role in hair loss? You bet it can! There?s even a name for it, Telogen Effluvium. This is defined as hair loss caused by the sudden onset of stress. The odd thing about this condition is that you?re usually over the stressful event before the hair loss even starts. Sudden stress causes the hair follicles to stop growing and enter into the resting phase prematurely. The hair will remain in this resting phase for several months. At this time, an unusual amount of hair will be shed in a short period of time. For the most part, hair loss caused by stress is temporary.

Since stress can play a role in hair loss and we would like to keep our hair intact, just what can we do to prevent it? The obvious answer is to eliminate stress from our lives but that isn?t very realistic since not all stress is within our control. Some situations are stressful and there is nothing we can do to change that. What we can do is learn to deal with the stress in our lives in a more healthy way.

That means you lose

That means you lose both speed and control. Sometimes it seems easiest just to avoid drinking water, and wait for a break. However you then run the risk of getting dehydrated. A hydration pack allows you to sip your water without disrupting your ride, plus you can also store your cell phone, keys, rain jacket and some food inside it. It’s still a good idea to have a water bottle with you too, just in case.

A good pair of goggles or wraparound sunglasses is also recommended. They protect your eyes from the sun’s glare and from any dust on the track. Orange or yellow lenses are recommended, as these colors brighten the track, lighten the dark and shady patches, and help increase visibility.

Missing girl’s parents in confrontation in park

NIAGARA FALLS — No charges were expected to be filed after a confrontation Friday in Whirlpool State Park between the parents of a missing 12-year-old girl, Magdalena Lubowska of the Bronx, and the operators of the unlicensed vacation center she had been attending at the time of her apparent drowning Aug. 13.

State Parks Police were called about 12:30 p.m. after the girl’s parents found themselves in the park at the same time as the operators, Eva and Timothy Hedges of Niagara Falls, and their attorney. The girl fell into the Lower Niagara River rapids in that park.

The Hedges’ attorney, E. Earl Key, said they took him to the gorge so Key could see the scene of the incident. He said his legal assistant, Brian Braun, would not press charges after giving police a statement against the girl’s father, Miriusz Lubowski.

“My clients went to have a private moment with their daughter, in spirit or otherwise,” said the attorney for Magdalena’s parents, Gus Michael Farinella. He said the Hedges’ presence “ruined my clients’ opportunity to visit the scene for the first time.”

Key said he was willing to contact Farinella before any further visits, to make sure the families are not in the park simultaneously again. “All I want is for them to stay away from the [Hedges'] house,” Key said.

Meanwhile, Parks Police said their search for the girl’s body continued Friday without success.

Aviles was charged with third-degree menacing, while Rodriguez faces a third-degree assault charge.

Loud car stereo leads to drug charges for driver

A West Side Buffalo man stopped by police for playing his car stereo too loud Thursday ended up being charged with marijuana possession, as well.

Duane M. Stokes, 37, of Massachusetts Avenue, was charged with fifth-degree marijuana possession and violating the city’s excessive- noise ordinance.

Police said Stokes was stopped on McKinley Parkway when they noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from his vehicle and a large marijuana cigarette, called a blunt, burning in the ashtray.

Stokes also was cited for having an expired inspection sticker.

A day earlier, a Wakefield Avenue man also was arrested for marijuana possession following a traffic stop.

Martinez Pitts, 32, was stopped by police at South Division and Spring streets for allegedly speeding. In the course of their investigation, police said they saw in plain view a large, clear plastic bag containing more than 25 grams of marijuana in the back seat of the vehicle Pitts was driving
